The other teams have also been busy: The Wuppertal team will conduct a symbolic laying of the foundation stone on 1 March 2010; the Stuttgart team will conduct its topping-out ceremony in April and the Rosenheim team will follow likewise at the beginning of May.

The construction of the prototype buildings and the testing of the largely innovative, building-integrated technologies must be completed shortly afterwards. In May, the buildings will be dismantled into their separate parts, packed and loaded onto lorries in order to be transported to Madrid. At the beginning of June, the buildings will then be rebuilt in front of a historic backdrop. The Solar Decathlon Europe competition is being held in the week from 18 to 27 June 2010. All the buildings from the 20 participating teams will be subjected to various tests and assessed by a jury in accordance with various categories. The winner of the international competition will be the team that builds the most energy efficient building with innovative technology, sophisticated architecture and convincing market practicability, and which most convincingly pursues and conveys the concepts of sustainability and environmental awareness in its utilisation of materials and technology.
