01. Nov 2008 - Prize awarded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology for energy-optimised building 2009 – Competition documentation

Abstract
High comfort with minimum energy requirements, low operating costs and innovative technology combined as part of outstanding architecture – these are the goals to be achieved by the buildings of the future, and represent the focus of the “Architecture with Energy” awards, which have a prize fund of 100,000 euros. Innovative building developers, architects and specialist engineers are encouraged to enter their plans for new buildings or refurbishment projects and to apply for the support available for model projects as part of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology’s “Energy-optimised building” research programme.
more details
The competition is looking for ambitious, well-designed concepts for new buildings and refurbishment projects which include optimised building and energy philosophies. Planning should be based on an integral process and use innovative technologies and systems.
Conditions of participation
Building developers from the private and public sectors, architects and planning offices are entitled to enter. Given the aim of implementing integral planning approaches, architects and specialist planners are particularly encouraged to submit joint entries. More than one entry may be made. Consortia count as a single entrant. Only one plan may be submitted for each given project.
