02. Jul 2009 - The state of building technology research

The EnOB research initiative’s two-day status seminar focussing on building technologies ended today in Würzburg, Germany. Research teams from a wide range of disciplines in the area of energy-optimised construction gave the over 170 participants an insight into current projects. At the same time, the event also had the aim of exploring and discussing future research topics in the field of energy-optimised construction. In terms of content, the spectrum ranged from innovative facade systems, HVAC concepts/applications and thermal storage systems right through to modelling and the optimisation of operations.

In Louisville, USA, fand die diesjährige ASHRAE-Tagung statt. Innerhalb des Themenschwerpunkts Exergie gab es im Programm ein Seminar, mit dem die europäischen (genauer: deutschen) Ansätze zum Thema High-Performance-Gebäude präsentiert wurden.

24. Jun 2009 - EnOB projects at the ASHRAE Annual Conference in the USA

As part of the Annual Conference held by ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers that sets globally recognised standards for building services technology, a seminar on “Building High Performance with Exergy: European Perspectives” took place today. European approaches to energy-optimised construction were presented at the seminar. The speakers – all of whom are involved in EnOB (Energy-Optimised Construction) research projects – gave presentations about the EnOB research initiative and selected projects.

04. May 2009 - Award ceremony for the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology competition “Energy-Optimised Construction 2009”

As part of the ‘Berliner Energietage’ event, the EnOB research initiative today presented awards to the winners of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology competition “Energy-Optimised Construction 2009 – Architecture with Energy”. In his role as Chairman of the Jury, Dietmar Riecks from Banz + Riecks architects praised the quality and inventiveness of the total of 59 entries submitted.

22. Apr 2009 - Great interest in the topic of energy-efficient schools

This topic is obviously of great interest at the moment: over 300 representatives from municipalities and school administration and from the areas of architecture, planning, construction and research came to Biberach in Upper Swabia, Germany, where the 4th Symposium on energy-efficient schools was held on 21 and 22 April 2009. The symposium focussed on the new EnOB research area “Energy-Efficient Schools”, which was introduced with detailed presentations of the first model projects.

18. Feb 2009 - Refurbished student accommodation passes practical test with flying colours

Today, researchers from the University of Wuppertal presented their report on the monitoring of the refurbished “Neue Burse” student accommodation building to the client, the Wuppertal University Social Services Office. The evaluation of the data recorded over three years shows that one of the biggest student residence buildings in Germany has become the most energy-efficient and also one of the most attractive after the refurbishment work! A poster exhibition relating to this project can be visited by the public in the premises of the Sparda-Bank in Wuppertal-Elberfeld until the end of March.
