Special exhibition & symposium: glass technology live

The special “glass technology live” exhibition at this year’s glasstec trade fair will showcase various technology developments from the EnOB research projects. On 29 September 2010, a symposium on “energy efficient production, technologies and products” is also being jointly held with the VDMA. This will focus on the latest developments relating to vacuum glass and high-insulation window and facade systems.

glasstec claims to be the world’s largest international trade fair for the glass industry and its suppliers. glasstec 2010 will present new products from the glass industry, glass machinery and plant sector and the glazier trade. Innovations can be viewed ranging from glass production, processing and finishing to glass applications in the construction and facade sector as well as the respective production and tool technology. The “glass technology live” exhibition at the trade fair also focuses on innovations. The special exhibition and symposium will show innovations relating to glass as a construction material.
“glass technology live” exhibition
The “glass technology live” exhibition will be showcasing energy efficient solutions using glass as a construction material. For instance, new developments and technologies will be presented that relate to photovoltaics, solar thermal energy and to summer and winter thermal protection. Glazing with multifunctional layers, extremely high-performing vacuum insulation glass und Isoliergläser sowie deren Gestaltungs- und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten in and insulating glass will be presented along with design and application possibilities for integrating them into building envelopes. Component-specific solutions for roofs and facades as well as innovative, energy-optimised facade structures will be shown using mock-ups or large-scale models, including, for example, a high-insulation mullion-and-transom facade system.
Symposium
The specialist symposium on "energy efficient production, technologies and products” will be taking place on 29 September 2010. The event, which will include lectures on research, construction and planning practice, will supplement the special exhibition and aims to encourage an exchange of specialist knowledge between industry, processors and users. There will be presentations on vacuum insulation glazing and multifunctional window and facades systems. You can find the event programme here.
