ModQS workshop – Automated error diagnoses in heating systems

Abstract
Date: 14 September 2011
Location: Hamburg
Minor corrections – major effect: In existing buildings, correctly adjusting the parameters for the building services systems can be enough to save between 5 and 30% of the energy consumption. The ModQS research project intends to develop a practice-oriented process that will quickly and securely identify savings potential and, by means of suitable corrections, optimise the building operation. Initial projects and results relating to heating systems will be presented in a workshop and actual case examples will be discussed.
More details
ModQS is a research project concerned with the measurement-based regulation and operational monitoring of building services systems. An initial focus will be on systems for providing heat in existing non-residential buildings. The developed process will be implemented in up to 15 buildings and evaluated. It is intended to enable significant energy and cost savings to be established along with improvements in comfort. This should be possible through simple measures such as adapting the time programmes for the system operation, correctly setting the heating and cooling curves and adjusting air volume flows. In addition to the technical optimisation, other aspects that will be addressed include the organisational incorporation of the processes into the building management and the involvement of building users. The ModQS research project is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology as part of the EnOB research initiative. The Commissioning, Optimisation and Monitoring (EnBop) research area focuses on optimising buildings during ongoing operation. At the centre of the research projects are case studies concerned with the operational management of innovative buildings, systems and components. In addition, methods to improve the operational management of buildings are being tested and new kinds of tools and service concepts are being developed.
The workshop is aimed at owners and operators of real-estate property, companies concerned with building control technology, energy advisors for SMEs and research and development projects in the building technology sector.
Programme and registration
The workshop is being held at the Hamburg University of Technology. A boat tour of the harbour and a joint meal are being held on the eve of the workshop on 13 September 2011. This starts at 6 pm and will provide an opportunity to get to know one other.
The actual workshop takes place on 14 September 2011 from 9 am to 5 pm in Room N-0007. It costs 80 euros to take part in the workshop (concessions 40 euros). It costs 35 euros to take part in the pre-evening programme (each price includes VAT).
The detailed programme is included in the flyer for the workshop.
