High performance energy systems

Abstract
Date: 19-21 October 2010
Location: Munich, Germany
With this international conference, the international working group from IEA ECBCS Annex 49 “Low Exergy Systems for High Performance Building and Communities” will be presenting and discussing the results of its three-year research activities, which are now coming to a conclusion. New approaches for supplying energy to buildings and local communities will be presented in the form of expert talks. Parallel to this, a student workshop will be held, which will enable undergraduate and postgraduate PhD students from relevant study courses to be involved in the conference.
More details
ECBCS Annex 49 is a three-year international cooperation project that forms part of the “Energy Conservation in Buildings and Community Systems” (ECBCS) programme run by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The work of ECBCS Annex 49 involves 17 research institutions, universities and companies from 12 countries. The principle aim of this project was to develop building- and community-related concepts to reduce both exergy consumption and the need for high quality fuels in buildings and their supply systems.
This event, which is being under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, is being organised by the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) in cooperation with CAUBERG-HUYGEN Raadgevende Ingenieurs BV.
In order to actively involve both undergraduate and postgraduate PhD students in the conference, an additional workshop will be held parallel to the conference from 18–21 October 2010. For this purpose, PhD students from various European universities and institutes are invited along with students from the Oskar von Miller Forum to take part in an interdisciplinary discussion on issues concerning exergy and the respective technologies.
