Evaluation and optimisation of operations for real estate properties

Abstract
Date: 1.2.2007
Location: Frankfurt
How well do carefully planned, well-intentioned buildings actually function in real operation? Approaches to research, with which office buildings can be put to the test and optimised, are presented in an expert workshop in the Maintower in Frankfurt.
More details
In the research project "Evaluation of Building Energy Concepts" (EVA), 20 to 25 innovative office buildings in Germany, and a number of conventional buildings, are being examined over a three-year period. These are relatively young buildings, all built in the last ten years. The central focus is on the buildings' energy performance. Alongside an assessment of the annual final energy consumption and primary energy consumption, detailed measurements are to provide information about the efficiency of innovative technological concepts and HVAC systems, e.g. concrete core temperature control, energy piles, and natural or decentralised ventilation concepts. With this evaluation, the potential for increased energy efficiency and comfort in normal operation of buildings is to be ascertained, and subsequently implemented.
Contributions
Industry representatives from the fields of architecture, building services equipment planning, construction financing, facility management, and component manufacture, discuss the following topics:
1. The "Energy-Optimised Construction" (EnOB) programme
2. Evaluation of energy concepts, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort: the EVA project
3. Development of tools for optimisation of the operation of buildings: the OASE project
4. Building management in the Maintower, Frankfurt
5. Storage of heat and cold in the foundation area of office buildings: the WKSP project
6. Decentralised ventilation equipment integrated in the exterior wall: the DEAL project
7. Evaluation and energy-oriented optimisation of operations: perspectives for research and development
Note
Documentation of the workshop will be available soon, and can be downloaded from this website.
