Buildings of the future – new perspectives from research

Abstract
Date: May 7th 2008
Location: Berlin
On 7 May 2008, BINE Informationsdienst is presenting new perspectives for buildings of the future in Berlin. Speakers from research and planning practice will be presenting different concepts and projects that can be applied to both new and existing buildings. When combined together and fully mature, these will fundamentally change the way we supply energy to buildings. The half-day event is being held as part of the "Berliner Energietage" – Berlin Energy Days - conference and trade fair.
More details
The signals from politics, the energy market and climate research are now extremely clear: we must take larger and quicker steps to becoming energy-efficient. A bit more thermal insulation here and a bit of solar energy or biomass there will not be enough to prepare our houses, buildings, residential areas and cities for the challenges that are becoming increasingly evident. Therefore it is worthwhile breaking out of established (industry and trade-specific) mind sets and relativising energy policy territories for once in order to consider the scope for action in the context of current research activities.
That is exactly what the event "Buildings of the future – new perspectives from research" intends to achieve. This is concerned with the following issues: Do we already know the energy-efficient building of the future? Should individual buildings or complete residential areas be optimised? Which fuels will play a strategic role and how can renewables or natural heat resources be used systematically?
Target Groups
The event is aimed at progressive thinkers from architecture, specialist planning, local authorities, building societies, associations, energy consultancies, assessors, education, etc.

Berliner Energietage - Berlin Energy Days
The Berlin Energy Days (5-7 May 2008) are organised by Berliner ImpulsE and are funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Berlin Senate. The three-day conference encompasses 40 events focussing on the topics "Parameters for energy efficiency", "Energy efficiency in buildings", "Energy efficiency consultancy", "Energy management" and "Climate protection and renewables".
The complete conference programme is provided above as a PDF file and on the Berliner Energietage website.
Registration
The event "Future buildings – new perspectives from research" is fully booked. So there is no registration possible any more.
