Announcement: “Buildings of the future” symposium and presentation

Abstract
Date: 18-19 January 2011
Location: Munich
With this double event, the EnOB research initiative will be presenting new concepts, methods and model projects from the world of research, all in the context of innovative building prototypes from the Europe-wide “Solar Decathlon Europe” university competition. The symposium and presentation will take place as part of BAU 2011. In this way, the research initiative will be showing how the “buildings of the future” can meet the challenges of the 21st century: Energy efficiency is the main challenge here, alongside architecture for today’s needs, functionality, comfort and sustainability.
More details
The “buildings of the future” are no longer a distant vision... Indeed, it will be possible to view them at BAU 2011! The EnOB research initiative will be presenting building prototypes by four teams from German universities in Berlin, Rosenheim, Stuttgart and Wuppertal that performed excellently at the “Solar Decathlon Europe” international competition in Madrid. These innovative building prototypes employ new materials, systems, components and concepts that bear the “Made in Germany” badge.
Programme overview
1. Research symposium
Research and project teams provide insights into the latest developments and methods: strategies for improved occupant comfort and optimised operation management, new methods and results for overall economic viability analysis, trends in the simulation of buildings and systems, and new components and systems for buildings.
