2nd Ecobuildings Conference

Abstract
Date: April 7.-8. 2008
Location: Stuttgart
The Ecobuildings Conference is presenting project outcomes and experiences from four European demonstration project initiatives, which are being jointly presented under the European Ecobuildings label. The two-day conference will mainly focus on the special requirements and challenges involved in constructing and refurbishing public buildings. In addition to demonstration projects, various design tools will be presented as part of the lectures. These are almost fully matured and can be deployed in the design, implementation and occupational phases.
More details
Conference
The conference is being organised by the city of Stuttgart, which is represented with an Ecobuilding demonstration building, in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) and the Project Management Jülich. The conference is being held in the Rathaus (Town Hall) in Stuttgart. The programme includes the presentation of 24 demonstration projects, poster presentations on the other project outcomes (e.g. design tools) as well as "round table" discussions with policy makers. Ecobuildings
The Ecobuildings Initiative is funded by the EU Commission (GD TREN) and is seeking to develop and test new methods for designing, constructing and operating new or refurbished buildings at the European level. The intention is to considerably lower heating, cooling and lighting requirements and, in addition, provide remaining energy requirements as efficiently as possible, whereby renewable energy or CHP should be used if at all possible.
Through the activities, the initiative intends to drive forward legislative and regulatory measures for energy efficiency and to promote the increased use of renewable energy solutions in the construction industry.
