Passivbürogebäude Wagner
Building type Office buildings
Projektstatus: Phase 5
Framework project EnBau

Wagner passive office building

This was a pioneering project: in 1998, Wagner & Co Solartechnik’s administration building was the first office building built according to the passive-house philosophy. This approach, which was ground-breaking at the time, was only decided upon during the planning phase, after the basis for the decision had been backed up by comprehensive thermal simulations. Despite the mixed reaction from architects, the building has proved to be a forerunner for a new generation of office buildings.

SurTec – a factory designed as a passive house

The newly built headquarters of SurTec GmbH represent the first factory building in Europe to be constructed as a passive house. The building had to fulfil special requirements because of the particular circumstances of this problematic site, which is located between railway tracks, a main road and a residential area. It was not possible to orient the facades in such a way as to optimise the solar energy captured. Nonetheless, the energy characteristic values are very good for this project which was built in 2000.

Sandwich building elements with vacuum insulation

Sandwich building elements allow a wide variety of material combinations, and have versatile implementation possibilities in the building trade. In this research project, sandwich building elements with integrated vacuum insulation were developed. They are now being tested and scientifically evaluated in practice in a demonstration building in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (Germany).

Der Prototyp – Visualisierung während der Planung
Building type Special buildings
Project status: Phase 2
Framework project EnBau

Solar Decathlon Winner –"Living 2015" Prototype

The prototype is laden with new technologies and concepts: Vacuum insulation (VIP), thermo-active building systems using phase change materials (PCM), solar power generation (PV) integrated into the facade and roof and many other features ensure energy autonomy.

Refurbishment of a Gründerzeit house with interesting details

In Hamburg, a Gründerzeit house that comprises two structurally identical building sections was fully refurbished. The refurbishment was carried out using two sets of standards to enable the two refurbishment alternatives to be compared in respect of energy efficiency and costs. Particular attention was paid to developing transferable solutions for the refurbishment of Gründerzeit houses.
