ProfileThe Institute for Building Services and Energy Design handles the entire spectrum of energy and climatic design in buildings. Our focus is the integral planning of buildings while taking all relevant aspects of energy consumption and occupant comfort into account.

Building type Office buildings
Projektstatus: Phase 5
Framework project EnBop

Head office of Siedlungswerk

The head office building for Siedlungswerk gGmbH, which is situated in the centre of Stuttgart, was evaluated with a view to optimising its operation. The aim was to lower the energy consumption and at the same time make it more comfortable to use. The optimisation focussed on the heating and ventilation systems.

The new Regionshaus building in Hanover
Building type Office buildings
Projektstatus: Phase 5
Framework project EnBau

PPP model for new Regionshaus building in Hanover

This building demonstrates two important aspects of innovative construction: firstly, the contractor's requirements with regard to energy efficiency and occupant comfort are set very high, and secondly a particular financing model is applied: the "public private partnership", or PPP for short. The contractor (the Region of Hanover), despite a tight public budget, is able to build a consistently energy-optimised building for 300 staff.

EnergieForum Berlin: Gebäudeansicht von der Spreeseite
Building type Office buildings
Projektstatus: Phase 5
Framework project EnBop

Seasonal heat management at the EnergieForum Berlin

The EnergieForum Berlin is a building complex whose ambitious energy concept relies on energy piles for providing seasonal heat and cooling storage within the building’s foundations. The monitoring of the building started soon after it was inaugurated. A decisive problem was the continual increase in the ground temperature. However, by means of many different measures that did not require capital investment, considerable improvements have been made to the building’s performance and the heat and cooling storage in the foundation area has been successfully balanced out.

Das Software-Tool "Energie-Navigator" ist eine webbasierte Plattform, damit Architekten, Ingenieure, Bauherren und Facility Manager die Performance Ihres Gebäudes gemeinsam optimieren und überwachen

The Energy Navigator: Energy-optimised design and operation

The Internet-based working platform enables the design of system descriptions, automatic analyses of operating data and reporting functions for engineers, building owners and users. Thanks to innovative Web 2.0 technologies, the working platform can be used online by all project participants throughout the entire lifecycle. The Energy Navigator enables the operation of buildings to be systematically supported.

Die Volkswagen Bibliothek Berlin von Süd-West
Building type Special buildings
Projektstatus: Phase 5
Framework project EnBop

Volkswagenbibliothek in Berlin

The building for the Volkswagenbibliothek in Berlin was evaluated shortly after it opened in terms of its energy efficiency and levels of comfort. As part of an energy-oriented optimisation of the operation, the primary energy consumption was lowered within one year by 19 per cent. At the same time, the user comfort has improved tangibly.
