| Profile | We are developing the basics for an environmentally sound and energy efficient building design and are communicating these in the vocational training of architects. Sustainability in Architecture is more than an ethical label; it also stands for economical design and a new building culture. It requires new design concepts - in new building as well as in the building stock. It is in need of a life-cycle-assessment based way of economical, technical and design thinking. This implies new technical systems which have to be used and designed by architects. It demands new ways of cooperation between the planning team and leads to an integral way of planning. We understand our work as a cross-sectional task of architecture. It affects political questions as well as social ones. Our goal is to increase the performance of buildings on the one hand and to evaluate their potentials on the other. |
